A closet full of clothes, but absolutely nothing to wear.
We’ve all been there, right? Our closet doors and dresser drawers are open and overflowing with clothes, but there isn’t a single thing we want to wear.
The problem isn’t that you don’t know what to wear when you have nothing to wear. It’s that we are overwhelmed with choices and it’s making outfit coordination a daunting task!
The solution to this predicament is to have a list of go-to outfits. These outfits are simple, but stylish and make a great foundation for more stylized looks.

What To Wear When You Have Nothing To Wear
I’m going to show you easy outfits that you can probably copy with the clothes you already have. After this, you won’t be struggling with “I have nothing to wear” anymore!
Jeans + Cute Top
If you’re looking for a quick and chic casual outfit, you can never go wrong with jeans and a cute top. Your top can be a graphic t-shirt or classic white t-shirt.
Tuck your top into high waisted straight leg jeans. These jeans will visually elongate your legs and are incredibly flattering.
Slip Dress
An elegant slip dress is so versatile. They can be dressed up or down depending on what accessories and shoes that you pair them with.
For more dressier events, I recommend having a satin or silk midi slip dress on hand. These slinky dresses are incredibly elegant and will work for a variety of special events.
Pair them with heels and minimal gold jewelry for a classy and sophisticated look.
For a dressed down look, pair your slip dress with white sneakers or sandals.
Blazer + T-shirt + Jeans
A blazer can be worn for formal or casual occasions, so it’s one of the most versatile jackets! They instantly make an outfit look more professional and sharper–even if you are wearing a t-shirt.
An oversized blazer, such as a boyfriend blazer, looks great with a simple white t-shirt and jeans. They pair well with casual outfits, but can also be worn for business casual wear.
A tailored blazer will fit you perfectly, so it’s very flattering. It is essential for important work events or presentations. Having at least one will come in handy!
Shorts + Tank Top
Shorts are my go-to spring and summer wardrobe staples. They’re perfect for those extra hot days when you just don’t want to wear pants or jeans.
Wear linen shorts when it’s hot out for their breathability. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with jeans shorts!
Pair your shorts with a comfortable tank top and you’re ready to go.
Romper or Jumpsuit
Can’t be bothered to create a full outfit? Rompers and jumpsuits are perfect for that. They are an all-in-one outfit. All you need to do is find the right pair of shoes.
Speaking of shoes, rompers and jumpsuits go well with a wide variety of shoes too. Pair them with your favorite white sneakers, sandals, or heels.
Skirt + Satin Cami
A skirt is a great alternative to pants whenever you want to go for a more feminine vibe. They’re also a great way to dress up basic tops.
Choose skirts in neutral colors, such as beige, white, gray, black, and brown. This will make it much easier to coordinate with tops.
Finally, add a satin cami to complete this feminine and chic outfit. Bonus points if the cami is in a neutral color too!
Leggings + Oversized Sweatshirt
Black leggings are an essential foundation piece for easy comfort and warmth. They are super easy to pair with ankle boots, sneakers, and blazers too.
Look for interesting textures, such as quilted or faux leather textures for a unique twist to the typical black leggings.
Pair your leggings with an oversized sweatshirt for that comfy, but cute look!
Long Cardigan + Mini Dress
A long cardigan is comfy and can visually elongate your body. I love how they skim the body and create long vertical lines to make you appear taller.
Pair this with a mini dress and over the knee boots for a cute and sexy outfit. You can also wear a long cardigan with jeans and a top too.
Bodysuit + Wide Leg Pants
If you’re constantly tucking in your tops, then a bodysuit is perfect for you! Bodysuits are secured in place all-day and virtually free of any lumps and bumps.
Since these tops are body hugging, I like to wear wide bottoms to balance it out. Wide leg pants are one of my favorite bottoms to pair with bodysuits!
Cute Blouse + Straight Leg Pants
A cute blouse is the perfect top for brunch or casual hangouts with friends. They’re dressy and easy to wear with bottoms.
For this look, pair a cute blouse with straight leg pants. The trick is to find solid colored pants in a neutral color. This will allow your blouse to be the statement piece.
Fitted Turtleneck + Corduroy Skirt
I love how slimming fitted turtlenecks are. Plus, they have an elongating neckline, which gives the illusion that you’re taller. Get a black, gray, or white turtleneck for easy outfit coordination.
Pair this with a mini corduroy skirt for that perfect cold weather, cozy outfit.
Ankle Boots + Leather Skirt + Lightweight Sweater
Ankle boots with a chunky heel are my favorite boots for fall and winter. The chunky heel makes it comfortable to walk in and gives you a bit of height. They make an outfit look so sleek!
Try pairing your ankle boots with a faux leather skirt and lightweight sweater. Now you’re ready to brave the cold in style.
White Sneakers + Jeans + Crop Top
White sneakers are a year-round staple for me. If you love taking long strolls or you’ll be on your feet all day, sneakers are the way to go!
Complete this stylish, casual outfit with jeans and a crop top. Easy, chic, and effortless!
Mesh Socks + Heels + Midi Dress
Heels don’t have to be boring! Try wearing printed mesh socks with heels to give your them a new look. Polka dots, bows, and other fun patterns are a great way to add some spice to your typical heels.
Wear your heels with a midi dress and you’ve got a fun, fashion forward outfit.
Monochrome
A monochrome outfit is incredibly stylish and classy. It also has the added benefit of making you appear taller and slimmer because the single color unifies the figure.
Try playing around with similar shades of the same color and different textures in the same outfit. This will make your outfit more interesting.
Play With Accessories
Elevate your basic outfits with accessories! They instantly take your outfit to the next level and add fun, small details.
Believe it or not, but accessories can also make your outfit look completely different too. Minimal gold jewelry is a great way to start. They add subtle detail without overwhelming the entire outfit.
You can also wrap a beautiful silk scarf around your neck and play around with hair accessories, such as barrettes.
How To Dress Simple But Stylish
Dressing simple and stylish isn’t as hard as it might seem to be. It’s all about getting the right basic foundation pieces that will help you start an outfit.
There’s nothing more aggravating than trying to keep up with stylish trends. That’s why I highly recommend avoiding trends when you’re just starting out.
This is my number one rule when it comes to a timeless style and I can’t stress this enough. Trends are fun, but many don’t last in the test of time.
In addition, invest in quality basics. You can save more money in the long run because you don’t need to buy clothes frequently. That’s why it’s important to avoid fast fashion, if possible.
Finally, keep a consistent color theme in your wardrobe. I highly recommend neutral colors, such as white, beige, brown, gray, and black. These colors never go out of style and pair well with each other!
What Do You Wear On A Lazy School Day?
Comfort is key when you’re feeling lazy, especially if you’re spending the day at school. It’s important to stay comfy when you’re trying to study and learn new things.
Here’s what to wear when you have nothing to wear to school. For tops, go for simple basics, such as a white t-shirt, tank top, or bodysuit. If you feel like dressing up, try wearing a satin cami or cute blouse instead.
Go for loose bottoms, such as wide leg pants or straight leg jeans. These will allow you to be comfortable as you roam the hallways or walk across campus.
What To Wear When You Have Nothing To Wear In Summer
Having the perfect summer outfit at your disposal can be the difference between enjoying your time in the sun or dreading it! Your summer clothes should be breathable and chic, so here’s a few of my favorite clothing options.
You can never go wrong with a short sleeve t-shirt and jean shorts. This is the ultimate casual summer outfit. Moreover, you can pair crop tops with high-waisted shorts.
Mini dresses are also fun feminine pieces that you can’t go wrong with either. Pair them with white sneakers or sandals for that breezy summer look.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need To Wear Revealing Clothes?
No, you don’t need to wear revealing clothes to be stylish and feel fabulous. The key to looking stylish and classy is to wear clothes that flatter your body type.
Clothes that are form fitting and tailored to your body can be just as sexy as revealing clothes. Plus, if you’re more comfortable showing less skin, your confidence will show too.
However, if you like to wear revealing clothes, go for it! They’re also a source of empowerment.
This point is to express yourself through your clothing, so don’t be pressured to wear revealing clothing if it’s not your vibe.
How Do You Dress When You Feel Fat?
If you’re feeling self-conscious of your body size, here are some fashion tricks to help you feel more confident.
The key here is to find clothes that skim over curves you want to hide and strategically emphasize other parts of your body.
Here’s what to wear when you feel fat:
- Wrap tops – Wrap tops are designed to help define the waistline, but they’re loose enough, so they won’t accentuate unwanted curves.
- V-Neck tops – Showing off a little bit of the collarbone helps split up and divide a uniformly shaped upper half.
- Peplum tops – These tops are constructed with a waist that flows outwards and helps hide unwanted curves near the waist. This is a great option for those with a less defined waist.
- Straight leg pants and jeans – This modern style is not as tight or form-fitting and leaves just the right amount of room. They really flatter apple shapes and help elongate the legs.
- Wrap dress – Like wrap tops, a wrap dress will help create a flattering waistline.
- Empire waist – These dresses have a built-in waistline that is higher than the natural waistline. It will make your waistline higher for a dramatic effect.
How Can I Dress Better Everyday?
If you want to dress better everyday, you need to develop your own personal style. Building a personal style will take practice, but I assure you that the confidence you get is well worth it.
A personal style represents a person’s sense of self and ability to curate their own aesthetic. It’s not about following fashion trends at all!
Start off by getting fashion inspiration from places like Instagram, Pinterest, magazines, and people around you. Take note of what you like and try to imitate their styles.
Most important of all is to experiment with fashion as much as possible! Take pictures of your favorite outfits. It’s only through practice that you will start to dress better everyday.
How Should I Dress If I Have No Shape?
If I have no shape, chances are that you are a rectangle body shape. Rectangle body shapes have fairly uniform measurements and a straighter silhouette.
Since rectangle body shapes lack curves, you want to help define and accentuate the curves that you have. The advantage of this body shape is that you have the flexibility to designate which assets you want to define.
Here’s what to wear if you have no shape:
- Sweetheart-neckline tops – The heart-like or scalloped neckline helps add curves. Bonus points if you find a top that has a peplum bodice, which will accentuate the waist!
- V-neck tops – V-neck is a classic essential that helps highlight the collarbone and bring the eye upwards.
- Detailed collar – A detailed collar with raglan sleeves helps direct the attention upwards.
- Straight leg pants and jeans – This modern cut is the better alternative to skinny jeans. Skinny jeans will only exaggerate a rectangle body shape.
- Wide-leg pants and jeans – The voluminous silhouette adds volume to the hips, thighs, and butt.
- Flare pants – The open hemline helps create curves and looks great with booties or pumps.
- Belted dresses – Get a flowy dress that comes with a belt that cinches in the waist and creates the illusion of an hourglass figure.
- Puff sleeves – The dramatic puff sleeves add texture and bring volume to the upper body.
The next time you open your closet, keep these outfit ideas and tips in mind. You should know what to do when you have nothing to wear!
