It was through this book that he popularized what we now know of as the Kibbe body type. The kibbe body type system is a comprehensive image system that uses an individual’s feminine or masculine energy, also known as their yin and yang.

I would like to note that the Kibbe body type is not to be confused with how traditional (fruit) body types define a “body type.” Kibbe’s book refers to them as image identity types of archetypes.

It’s important to understand the basic principles that make up the Kibbe body types, so that you can understand the type that you belong to.
The principle behind yin and yang is that all things are made up of indivisible and conflicting counterparts. In this case, yin is the female energy and yang is the masculine energy.
However, that doesn’t mean that a body with mostly yang features will look like a man. Yin and yang is not completely tied to how we define femininity and masculinity.

Please keep in mind that yin and yang is not linked to body weight. A body with yin characteristics can be rounded and plump even if underweight.

The 13 Kibbe Body Types
There are 13 Kibbe body types in total, but it’s important to know the differences between them and how they are categorized. Of the 13 types, there are 5 pure types and 8 types that are a blend of the pure types.
The pure type families include Natural, Dramatic, Classic, Romantic, and Gamine. Dramatic and Natural have more yang qualities. Romantic and Gamine have more yin qualities. Classic is balanced between yin and yang qualities.
Remember, Kibbe body types are determined by 3 areas of the body: facial features, bone structure, and body flesh. Each of these can have a distinct yang or yin balance. A pure type is considered pure if all 3 areas of the body have similar yang or yin balance, but this is quite rare.
