Layering Tips For Clubbing In Winter
Layering is the key to staying warm and chic for clubbing in the winter. As the night goes on and the temps rise, you may want to shed some layers.
Here’s a few tips to keep you stylish and practical while clubbing in winter:
- Wear over the knee boots with short skirts and mini dresses. These long boots provide extra warmth to your legs and look super cute too.
- Layer sheer knits or mesh tops with tops that expose a lot of skin. Not only do they help cover up your exposed limbs, but they also show them off in a mysterious and alluring way.
- When in doubt, heeled ankle boots are the way to go! These are my go-to shoes for winter and they don’t disappoint for clubbing in winter too. Look for booties with a block heel, so that it’s easier to dance in.
What Not To Wear To The Club
Looking cute and sexy for a night out clubbing is great, but you want to make sure you can get in the club too. Some high-class clubs can be picky about their dress codes.
That’s why it’s important to look up the club’s dress code. Most clubs will list their club attire online, especially if they are serious about it.
When in doubt, here’s a few key things to avoid wearing to a club:
- Flip flops – Save these for the beach boardwalk, not for the club! They also don’t protect your feet if you get stepped on or if a drink spills on you.
- Gym wear – Leave the baggy sweatpants and hoodies for lounging around at home. They’re too casual for a typical nightclub.
- Hats – These pose a security risk since they conceal faces from cameras. If you’re unsure if the club you’re going to allows it, it’s best to leave them behind.
There’s always exceptions to these rules, so if you’re unsure just check the club’s website. For instance, sneakers, such as vans, could be acceptable in some casual nightclubs.
Jeans are also acceptable in many casual nightclubs too. If they don’t list their club attire, go the safe route by dressing in smart casual attire.
It’s honestly a lot easier for women to dress up for the club. If you’re struggling with what to wear, you can never go wrong with a minidress and heels!
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do You Avoid Cold Clubbing?
Dress in layers! It typically gets warmer inside the club and especially if you’re dancing too.
There are plenty of stylish ways to layer without looking like a bulky snowman. For instance, use sheer knits and fabric to your advantage.
I also love pairing mini skirts or dresses with over the knee boots. It’s stylish and practical at the same time!
Check out my layering tips for clubbing in the winter above for ways to layer and still look fabulous.
Should You Wear A Jacket To A Club?
Most people would agree that bringing a jacket to the club is more of a nuisance than it should be.
That’s because you may need to queue up at the beginning and end of the night within long lines. You could be in line for a long time. There’s also a risk that you may forget or lose your coat too.
If you’re insistent on bringing a coat, don’t wear an expensive one! Unless they have great security at the cloakroom, there’s always a chance that things can be stolen.
Instead, take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft straight to the nightclub. You can skip walking over there in the cold this way!
Why Do Nightclubs Have Dress Codes?
Nightclub dress codes are used to project a nightclub’s status and make them seem more exclusive. This helps nightclubs seem more enticing and helps set them apart from other clubs.
Aside from status, dress codes are also important ways to enforce safety and security measures.
Flip flops are commonly denied because they don’t provide enough protection. For example, people can step on your feet and there could be broken glass shards on the floor. These shoes leave your feet exposed to that!
Are you ready to go clubbing in the winter? I hope this gives your tons of fun outfit inspiration for your next out!
