Sustainable, beautiful, and high-quality hosiery that’s made out of recycled materials. Now that’s a brand that I can get behind. 🌏
Each year there are 8 billion pairs of tights thrown away after just a few uses. These cheap and non-biodegradable tights are filling our landfills and contributing to the second most worldwide polluting textile industry.
Swedish Stockings saw the incredible harm of nylon yarn–a material created from a damaging petroleum-based manufacturing process. Unfortunately, many modern pantyhose are made of nylon yarn.
Malva Ladder Resistant Tights 20 Black – Swedish Stockings Review
Sick of throwing away your tights? These tights use LYCRA® FUSION™ technology to prevent snags and holes from creating runs in the tights. They’re especially made for long-lasting performance. Plus, they’re incredibly comfy, fit true to size, and made of 100% recycled materials.
In 2013, Linn Frisinger and Nadja Forsberg started Swedish Stockings with a “mission to change and influence the entire hosiery industry towards sustainable production overall.”
All their stockings are made of recycled and sustainable materials. They use pre and post-consumer nylon waste to create their pantyhose. They also have a successful recycling program that has already recycled thousands of stockings.
I recently got their gorgeous Malva Ladder Resistant Tights 20 in Black and, let me tell you, they set the bar really high for tights.
I’m so excited to do this Swedish Stockings review. Let’s dive right in!

Swedish Stockings Review: Malva Ladder Resistant Tights
The Malva Ladder Resistant Tights 20 in Black uses LYCRA® FUSION™ technology to prevent snags and holes from creating runs in the tights. They’re especially made for long-lasting performance.
These tights are made from recycled polyamide in combination with Fusion Lycra and are the first fusion tights in the market.
These tights are gorgeous and feel so luxurious when I slip them on. There was barely any struggle to pull them on and off. Plus, the tights had the perfect amount of thickness and sheerness.
I got the Malva tights in 20 denier, which is the thinnest denier number that Swedish Stockings offers. They were sheer enough to see some skin through it, which is what I prefer. These tights are lightweight with a silky and durable texture. I could instantly tell that they’re high-quality.
I especially love that these tights have a soft broad waistband, which makes it super comfy around my waist area. It also features flat seams for a more seamless look and a cotton gusset, which helps “down there” stay dry and ventilated.
Not only did they have an impeccable fit, but the appearance was smooth and flattering for my legs. There was absolutely no uneven banding in the fibers–leaving a flawless and consistent sheer color all around my legs.
✅ Why I Love It:
- Long-lasting performance– uses LYCRA® FUSION™ technology to prevent snags and holes from creating runs in the tights.
- 100% recycled materials made from recycled polyamide in combination with Fusion Lycra.
- High-quality and luxurious fit and feel.
- Soft broad waistband that’s super comfortable and even cinches in the waist area.
- Lightweight and has the perfect amount of sheerness.
- Has a cotton gusset, which helps “down there” stay dry and ventilated.
- Fits true to size–just follow their easy to read size chart!

Appearance & Texture
As I mentioned earlier, the Malva Ladder Resistant Tights have a flawless and even appearance. I made sure to inspect them closely to make sure the entire tights had consistent quality.
A good pair of high-quality tights should not have any visible streaks or lines running through them. The Malva tights definitely pass with flying colors.
The texture is also very smooth and silky. In fact, this probably helped with how easy it was to slip into these stockings. I always struggled with tights in the past, but not with these!
Quality, Comfort, & Durability
In addition to the look and feel, I always consider the quality and comfort of tights too. The Malva tights are exceptionally high-quality and comfortable.
I wore them several times in a row and it did not sag or lose its initial quality. They’re incredibly comfy to wear all day too!
Moreover, the Malva tights are designed to have long-lasting performance through LYCRA® FUSION™ technology. That means they’re resistant to snags and holes.
Packaging
The packaging is simple and minimal. My Malva tights were wrapped in a recyclable cardboard envelope and plastic wrapping.
Here’s a look at what the packaging looked like for my Swedish Stockings products:
Is Swedish Stockings Good?
Swedish Stockings create high-quality and long-lasting stockings using recycled and sustainable materials.
Plus, their production process is much less harmful compared to traditional nylon production. They’re consistently looking for ways to cut back on emissions, conserve water, and reduce waste.
Moreover, they have a recycling program that has already recycled thousands of stockings. You can send in 3 or more pairs of pantyhose for a 10% discount on a future Swedish Stockings order.
You can read all about their sustainability efforts and recycling program on their website.
Where Is Swedish Stockings Made?
All their tights are currently knitted in their zero-waste and emission free facilities in Italy. Swedish Stockings carefully chooses the people and factories they work with based on their ethical standards and practices.
Some factors that play a major role in their decision to work with a manufacturer or producer is their commitment to the employees and environmental issues, closer geographic location, and use of sustainable materials.
They make sure that the producers pay their employees a living wage. Moreover, they are working on finding manufacturers close to their headquarters in Sweden.
All their factories only use energy from renewable sources–some producing 30-80% of their own energy through their own solar panels. These zero-waste factories don’t use any harmful chemicals in production, and produce with significantly less water.
Read all about their production process on their website.
Is Swedish Stockings Tights True To Size?
Yes, Swedish Stockings are true size and have an impeccable fit too! I got a size Small for my Malva Ladder Resistant Tights and I have no complaints about the sizing.
Swedish Stockings makes it super easy to find your size for any of their products. Just look at the product description and find the size chart.
Their size chart is very clear and simple to use as long as you know your height and weight. For reference, I am 5’5” and about 118 lbs. and the size chart recommended a size Small.
Simply locate your height and weight on the axes of the chart. Then, find where they connect within the chart. The connection point will show you what size would fit you appropriately.
Is Swedish Stockings Breathable?
My Malva Ladder Resistant Tights are very breathable. I wore these tights on a cool spring day and it did not make me feel overheated. Plus, it helped regulate my temperature during the chilly night.
I love the fact that they use a cotton gusset–the fabric at the crotch area. This helps keep that area well ventilated and dry on hot days. 😉
Depending on the denier number, or the measure of thickness of the tights, this would affect the breathability or insulation. If you’re looking for thin and breathable tights, search for tights with a denier number close to 20.

Are They Ethical & Sustainable?
Swedish Stockings is very sustainable and practices ethical standards.
In fact, this stockings brand was created with the goal “to change and influence the entire hosiery industry towards sustainable production.”
Swedish Stocking was born out of the goal to change the hosiery industry by creating innovative and environmentally conscious products.
They set out to prove that stockings do not need to be made from disposable, cheap non-biodegradable textiles. All their pantyhose are high-quality, long-lasting, and made of recycled yarn.
Even their factories use sustainable methods, which include solar powered production and conserving water in the dyeing process. All their factories are zero waste and emission free.
Read all about the environmentally-friendly materials they use, innovative sustainability production practices, and their future sustainability goals on their website.
Variety: What’s Their Size & Color Range?
In terms of their tights variety, Swedish Stockings has tons of options to choose from. They have tights in sizes Small to X-Large and a variety of colors and prints.
For instance, they have classic designs, such as nets, dots, and houndstooth tights.
Color isn’t a problem either. Swedish Stockings have the typical neutral colors, such as black and nude, and fun colors like red, blue ,and green. They even have shimmery and multicolored prints.
That’s not all. They also have support tights that help shape the legs from top to bottom and maternity tights. Check out their entire tights collection on their website.
Swedish Stockings also has leggings, tops, socks, children’s tights, and more. I recently tried out their leggings, so I’m excited to do another Swedish Stocking review. Stay tuned!
Is Swedish Stockings Worth It?
I truly believe that Swedish Stockings is worth it. If you’re looking for a high-quality, long lasting, and environmentally conscious brand, then Swedish Stockings should be your top choice.
Nowadays, I’m always looking to support sustainable brands that deliver high-quality and beautiful clothing. This is especially important for stockings that are commonly disposed of after a few uses. I want staple pieces that I know will last a long time.
I don’t want to contribute to polluting the environment with cheap non-biodegradable nylon yarn stocking. Moreover, I don’t want to keep purchasing new stockings so frequently.
Less is always more and quality stockings are the way to go. I encourage you to check out Swedish Stockings for your next pair of tights.
Swedish Stockings FAQs
Is Swedish Stockings Warm?
Swedish Stockings can be as warm or as cooling as you want, depending on the denier number. The denier number determines the thickness and sheerness of the tights. All tights have a denier number in the name of the product.
The lower the denier number, the more sheer and thin the tights will be. Swedish Stockings offers a denier range from 20 to 200.
For instance, my Malva Ladder Resistant Tights came in a 20 denier, which means it’s very sheer. If you’re looking for more coverage and warmth, opt for a higher denier like these Olivia Premium Tights that come in a 60 denier.

Who Owns Swedish Stockings?
Linn Frisinger and Nadja Forsberg founded Swedish Stockings in 2013. They believed that there were too many harmful practices in the fashion industry, particularly in pantyhose.
Modern stockings are commonly neglected, cheap, and disposable. They wanted to bring back the feeling of quality and luxury that was associated with pantyhose.
How Do You Wash Swedish Stockings Tights?
The very nature of stockings make them very delicate items. Even though Swedish Stockings help create more durable and longer lasting stockings, it’s still important to take good care of them.
Swedish Stockings recommends that you wash them only when you need to. It’s suggested to wash them every 5 to 6 wears or when you need to. Also, hand wash them in cold water only. You can also spot clean with mild detergent in between full washes.
You also have the option to put them in a washing machine on a delicate cycle inside a mesh garment bag at 86 fahrenheit or 30 degrees celsius. Don’t add any fabric softener and let the stockings air dry naturally.

What is Swedish Stockings’ Warranty Policy?
Swedish Stockings offers a 30 day warranty. If you’re dissatisfied with your order or accidentally ripped or broken your product, you can fill out an online return form, attach images of the item, and follow their instructions.
A warranty will allow you to return the item for store credit to purchase a new one. For more information on their warranty, please visit their FAQs.
How Do You Fix A Swedish Stockings Snag?
Instead of throwing out your stockings after every snag or hole, it’s actually better to fix them yourself. This will reduce what you throw out and recycle, which helps end fast fashion.
Fixing snags and holes stockings is easy and all you need is a needle and matching color thread. Here’s 4 easy steps to repair small holes in your stockings:
- Flip your tights inside out and insert the mason jar into the stocking leg with the hole in it. Make sure the hole is directly above the mason jar and stretched out.
- Create a lengthwise zigzag stitch, making sure to catch both sides of the hole. Then, create a second stitch coming back to establish a circular shape.
- Continue to make small stitches from left to right in a circular motion from one end of the hole to the other.
- Finally, secure the end with a knot. Your hole is repaired and you can continue wearing your tights!
Does Swedish Stockings Have Free Returns?
Yes, they offer a 30 day free return period as long as the product is “unused, unopened and in the original product packaging with all labels and protective seals/stickers intact.” Products must be returned to the warehouse and shipping is not covered.
Please visit their FAQs page for the most up to date information on returns.
Does Swedish Stockings Have A Recycling Program?
Swedish Stockings has their own recycling program where you can send in a minimum of 3 stockings at a time. In exchange, they will give you a 10% off discount code for your next order.
Not only that, but you’re also contributing to a cleaner industry through their recycling program. Find out how you can recycle your old stockings by visiting their recycling club page.
